Might my wife have septic shock?
She has an appointment with the doctor next tuesday but I am hoping to get some info from some of you MedWhizzes before then. Last week my wife was reading about that diet where you eat high-protein high-starch meals in order to hold your bowels in for as long as you can between release sessions so your body continues to feed off the feces resting in your colon and rectum. I thought it was utter nonsensed but she insisted it would help her shave off 15 lbs in just 5 weeks without any real efforts. The last day or two she has been very ill. She is laying in bed sick now. She was able to hold her bowels 2 days in a row and then 3 days in a row. I told her there is NO more of this craziness because, believe it or not, and this is crude, her breath smelled of FECES! She said she vomitted and she thinks there may have been feces in her vomit. She is now back to a regular diet and is doing her best to have more frequent release sessions but she is having a hard time of it. Please, any advice is appreciated, especially if it supports my idea that this is NOT a healthy way to 'lose' weight.
