A classmate in physics?

It's only true if you arrange your reference system that way. and it's quite hard to arrange your reference system that way if you have more than one dimension in it. You can have a system where a particle is moving across the screen at constnt speed and then accelerate it upwards : the speed increases, accelerate it in the opposite direction instead and the speed still increases. Overall you get into too many problems if you think that way.
