If you throw a knife, is it possible for the handle to hit someone instead of the blade?

In the movies/games, when people throw knives or other sharp objects, the blade ALWAYS hits them. Now I would like to know if this is just physics and stuff that the blade will always hit them or is it just dumb luck?
